'Alternate' is written from the first time I laid my hands on a rhodes piano that a friend had in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). I was borrowing his studio to mix a different track but as he went off to take a shower I quickly plugged in the rhodes in and recorded a jam. With a driving force of breaks, bass thats interwoven with a vocoder, I tried to take the listener to two different places but have a consistent rythm that morphs and twists.

'Roads' is the jam session recorded to create Alternate, with some added simple and subtle effects.
Releasing this I'm practicing to let go of perfectionism. With a simple and repetitive structure, I have come to see the beauty of the imperfections. There is no denying the beautiful tones of a Rhodes piano, In that moment I saw why it has been a staple in music history.
